Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to the Engineering team to ensure the successful delivery of projects and initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance, productivity, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the production team to identify and implement process improvements that enhance overall equipment effectiveness and lean culture.
- Engineering and Technical
- Plan, organize, and coordinate resources to meet production requirements, including ongoing maintenance, machine replacement, and unplanned issues.
- Develop and implement technical solutions to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Work with approved suppliers to obtain parts and machinery, ensuring compliance with company standards and best practices.
- Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies, national legislative requirements, and the safety and wellbeing of the team.
- Develop and implement risk assessments, COSSH, and RIDDOR procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Plan, monitor, and ensure appropriate Engineering Team safety training is completed.
- Finance and Budgeting
- Develop and manage functional budgets, monitoring, managing, and controlling all activities in accordance with the agreed budget.
- Investigate and resolve any variances, ensuring financial performance is aligned with company objectives.
- Continuous Improvement
- Review all functional activities, develop, propose, and implement improvements to ensure continuous improvement through increasing effectiveness, efficiency, and added value.
- Deliver plans for reducing environmental impact, such as WECO usage, as defined with the Engineering Manager.
- Investigate, analyze, and implement corrective actions to resolve production/engineering problems, eliminating unplanned downtime and continuously improving working practices.
- Essential
- IT skills, including email, MS Office software, and Project and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organization skills.
- The ability to quickly learn technical terminology and processes.
- Leadership skills.
- Financial knowledge covering trading statements.
- Good analytical and decision-making skills.
- Communication skills (written and verbal).
- Desirable
- Experience with lean (Six Sigma) implementation of lean manufacturing systems.
- Excellent communicator with first-hand direct people management experience.
- Educated to HNC level Engineering qualification or equivalent.
- Time served as an apprentice with experience of electrical/mechanical/steam operations.
