Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior General Ledger Accounting Manager to join our General Ledger Accounting and Control team within GI Finance. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of 8 and delivering a high-quality general ledger close process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 8 and ensure the delivery of a high-quality general ledger close process.
  • Work closely with the UKGI GL Accounting Senior Manager to deliver a joined-up, timely, and robust general ledger close.
  • Own and manage the population of all transactions into the general ledger, ensuring the appropriate controls and oversight are in place.
  • Own and resolve any issues or exceptions reported through the general ledger close process, understanding the root cause and enhancing the control environment if required.
  • Perform robust reviews of the balance sheets for both Market and legal entities and attend the Balance Sheet Review meeting to provide a comprehensive update to the Market CFOs on the month-end process and key focus areas.
  • Provide technical accounting support and translate this into ledger accounting.
  • Lead the audit deliverables for the team, working closely with the external auditors and the financial reporting teams.
  • Receive and review the outputs of the production of balance sheet reconciliation, working closely with the GL reconciliations team to ensure appropriate review and governance is in place.
  • Ensure all risk and issues are managed and captured across the team, with timely reviews of key controls and EUCs, adhering to the minimum standards and providing updates to relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, ICAW).
  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience in managing a team and developing individuals.
  • A proven track record of transforming teams and processes.
  • Flexible to changing environments and the ability to prioritize workload effectively for both you and the team, while maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the business.
