We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Physician to join our team at Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, located in the picturesque setting of Cheadle, Stockport.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients on our Evergreen unit, which is a 15-bed acute mental health ward for adult males and females. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues to develop and implement treatment plans, conduct comprehensive assessments, and contribute to the overall governance of the unit.

In this role, you will also provide clinical leadership and ensure that the ward operates within organizational and regulatory requirements. You will be expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives, attend monthly governance meetings, and engage in academic activities such as case presentations and teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as the Consultant and Responsible Clinician as part of the MDT
  • Take overall responsibility for patient care and treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
  • Conducting Comprehensive Assessments and Treatment Planning with patients, external stakeholders, and carers
  • Chairing MDT/CPA Meetings; Adhering to organisational admission and discharge policy and procedures
  • Timely discharge GP notifications and discharge summaries
  • To contribute to the unit governance through expertise and leadership

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must possess:

  • MBBS or Equivalent Medical Degree and MRCPsych with s12/AC approval
  • Full GMC registration with license to practice
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice
  • Committed to continued professional development
