Job Purpose

As a Mechanical Fitter/Technician, you will play a key part in our global structure, working at our Rotherham HQ.

Job Dimensions

As part of a small team, your primary function will be the testing and reporting of a range of AESSEAL products and associated supporting tasks such as calibration, maintenance, and seal preparation. You will be responsible for:

  • Providing hands-on support for setting up test equipment, building and dismantling mechanical seals, and ensuring correct procedures are followed.
  • Dealing with all aspects of seal preparation, including lapping, shot blasting, laser etching, cleaning, fitting, measuring, and associated documentation.
  • Collecting data and observations from tests, interrogating, and clearly communicating findings in the form of a test report to the responsible engineer.
  • Ensuring tests are carried out in a timely and safe manner.
  • Thoroughly stripping and inspecting returned seals and compiling accurate condition reports.
  • Communicating with external/internal suppliers and customers clearly and effectively.
  • Maintaining calibration of key items of instrumentation and maintaining traceable history.
  • Working as part of the Test House team as well as working independently.
  • Working flexibly according to reasonable demands.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • HNC Level or equivalent.
  • Good hands-on practical skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of key Microsoft Office packages, Word, and Excel.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of pumps and compressors, understanding of calibration and instrumentation, good knowledge of mechanical seals (wet and dry), experience within a workshop environment, experience with rotating equipment (manufacturing, design, or build), report writing, experience with mechanical seals.
