Postdoctoral Researcher in Insect Vision and Cognition

As a Postdoctoral Researcher in Insect Vision and Cognition, you will be part of our cutting-edge research group investigating the complexities of insect vision and cognition. Your primary responsibility will be to develop new methods for measuring emotion-like states in wild bees, utilizing our recent work on emotion-like states in bees and their importance for understanding insect welfare.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a scientific area involving animal behaviour and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. They will be able to communicate complex information with clarity, work independently, and take the initiative on projects.
We are seeking an individual with a strong background in researching animal behaviour, particularly in insects such as bees. Experience in data analysis, including video data analysis and statistical modelling, especially using R, is also essential. Knowledge of and experience researching stress or animal welfare would be desirable.
This role involves working in a field-based environment, conducting experiments, and evaluating behavioural data. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our research team, contributing to grant applications, writing proposals for funding, and presenting research findings at conferences.
