About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team in the Theatres & Anaesthesia Clinical Support Unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a Preoperative Assessment Clinical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and optimization to patients prior to surgery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care through a range of clinical tasks associated with the pre-assessment of patients, including ECG recording, venepuncture, and updating digital records.
  • Conduct clinical tests and procedures, such as swabbing and blood sampling, and provide advice and instructions to patients.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including nurses, doctors, and administrative staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Lead a team of clinical support specialists and apprentice clinical support workers, providing guidance and mentorship.

Person Specification
  • Significant experience of working within a healthcare setting, delivering personal and clinical care.
  • Utilization of planning and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage workload.
  • Insight into roles and responsibilities of the post, with a strong understanding of the preoperative assessment process.
  • NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, Diploma in Health Level 3, or equivalent experience.
  • The Care Certificate or successful completion of the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and education, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
