Commodities Trading Summer Internship Programme Overview

Castleton Commodities International LLC is a leading global commodities merchant, deploying capital on a proprietary basis in the physical and financial commodity markets.

As a trader, CCI provides market insights and access through its extensive network of offices worldwide. The Company has more than 500 employees across four continents.

This summer internship programme is designed to provide analysts with exposure to commodity products, structuring, and trading with an emphasis on risk management. Participants will participate in either two 5-week rotations or one 10-week rotation through matched trading desks.

Expected Responsibilities:

  • Analyse markets to identify trading opportunities and understand risks.
  • Design and develop models to analyse economic data, market fundamentals, and forecast prices.
  • Perform research and statistical studies of identified risk factors.
  • Identify market pricing trends and discontinuity.
  • Design and formulate trade ideas and execute with rigorous risk management control.
  • Review research reports and articles that examine recent developments in the energy markets.
  • Build close connections with external consultancies and internal research teams.

Key Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Bachelors or Master's in Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Business, Economics, Energy, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field of study.
  • Expected graduation date in 2026.
  • Prior internship/exposure to the commodities markets or experience with other financial institutions and consulting is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills in one or more programming languages, including R, Python, Matlab, C++, VBA, Excel, SQL, or database exposure.
  • Superior communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work as an effective team player and add value to the team.

Benefits and Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this role is around $70,000 - $80,000, depending on location and experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
