Hudson River Trading, a pioneer in scientific trading, is seeking a seasoned Commodities Risk Management Specialist to join our dynamic team in NYC. This pivotal role will focus on designing, improving, managing, and communicating market and liquidity risk for commodities instruments and strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement new risk controls for commodities trading strategies, ensuring optimal market, operational, funding, and liquidity risk management.
  • Advise senior management on proposed new commodities strategies, investigating and onboarding new approaches, assessing their risk profile, and making recommendations on suitability and feasibility.
  • Analyze historical data to calibrate risk thresholds and ensure effective risk monitoring.
  • Design and build risk models reflecting the unique characteristics of commodities products, such as seasonality.
  • Collaborate with operations and execution trading teams to monitor and resolve risk limit breaches.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and Engineering to develop and implement new risk monitoring tools.
  • Evaluate bespoke trading opportunities and contribute to tactical projects across the organization.

**Qualifications:**

  • At least 7 years of experience as a risk manager covering commodities in an investment bank, hedge fund, or asset manager.
  • Strong understanding of the commodities landscape, including futures and physical trading, as well as relative value hedge fund strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, economics, computer science, electrical engineering, or statistics.
  • Working knowledge of Python, Linux, and SQL.
  • Effective communication skills to engage stakeholders across the firm, including traders, operations, and other risk managers.
