About the Opportunity

Amentum is currently recruiting for an EC&I Engineer to join our Nuclear Power and Engineering Technical Services (NPETS) business. NPETS is entering an exciting phase of opportunity, supporting our key client's UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation, and supporting new small modular reactor developers as they prepare for deployment in the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support requirements capture and systems engineering approach for new architectures
  • Contribute to projects across the project lifecycle from bid generation, through concept and detailed design development to installation and commissioning
  • Work on systems integration, testing and validation of PLC, SCADA and simulator systems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the practical aspects of implementing engineering designs and understand the use of standards and compliance with regulatory requirements in an engineering environment
  • Produce high-quality technical reports
  • Simplify complex problems
  • Build and maintain valuable relationships
Requirements
  • MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc or equivalent in EC&I or another relevant discipline, working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body (we will support you)
  • An awareness of civil nuclear plant systems, structures and components and associated design and assessment guidelines (or relevant engineering principles from other highly regulated industries)
  • An understanding of the relevant guidelines, standards and practices (e.g., IEC 61508, 61511, 61513, 61226, ONR SAPs / TAGS)
  • Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system; including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of safety or process critical I&C Systems
  • Knowledge of high integrity hardware or software-based control systems for industrial equipment
  • Motivated team member with the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progress
  • Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders
