About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dispensary, providing excellent patient care and contributing to the success of our pharmacy team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispensary Management: Assist the chief or senior technician in overseeing dispensing services to ensure seamless operation.
  • Stock Management: Maintain pharmacy stocks by ordering and requisitioning supplies from the Pharmacy Store as required.
  • Patient Counselling: Provide guidance to patients and carers on medication usage, ensuring they understand their prescriptions.
  • Support for Prescribing: Promote adherence to the Trust formulary and local prescribing guidelines to enhance medication effectiveness.
  • Training and Mentorship: Support and supervise trainee pharmacy technicians, trainee pharmacists, and other pharmacy staff to foster a skilled team.

Person Specification
  • Qualifications
    • BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences
    • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Desirable
    • Accreditation in Checking of Dispensing
  • Experience
    • Dispensing and supply of medicines
    • Computerised dispensing and stock control
  • Desirable
    • Community or Hospital Pharmacy Experience
    • Enhanced Hospital experience
