A research opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to join our academic team in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics.

Applicants should have a strong track record in relevant research and a PhD (or expect to soon be awarded) in a relevant field. The ideal candidate will have substantial expertise in either additive combinatorics or model theory, with an interest in its manifestations in a finitary combinatorial setting.

The role involves conceiving and conducting individual and collaborative research, as well as contributing to the dissemination of results in subject-appropriate ways. The role holder will be expected to communicate material of a technical nature to non-specialist audiences and build and maintain internal and external professional contacts.

The post offers opportunities for professional development, including individual mentoring and access to the University's career-development programme. The role is available for 2 years in the first instance, and the closing date for applications is 8 January 2025.
