We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Legal Counsel to join our Governance team at Barnett Waddingham LLP. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a hybrid basis from our offices in Cheltenham, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, or Bristol.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement commercial contracts, tenders, engagement letters, and other legal agreements.
  • Provide expert legal advice and support to the firm-wide legal team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain and update internal legal documents.
  • Stay up-to-date with legislation, regulation, and external legal advice to ensure compliance.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for external legal contacts and specialists.
  • Support the development of firm-wide precedents and training programs.
  • Implement and maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance with Barnett Waddingham's Information Security Policy.

Requirements:

  • A qualified lawyer with experience in-house or in private practice.
  • Proven expertise in contract law, including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property, information security, and data protection, including GDPR experience.
  • Financial services, FCA regulation, and pensions experience preferred but not essential.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid remote work arrangement in Cheltenham.
