We are seeking a visionary leader to oversee the English department and drive academic excellence at our prestigious school in Manchester. As the Head of English, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an exceptional English curriculum, supporting and mentoring teachers, and fostering a love for literature and language among students. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership and management, with a strong understanding of the English curriculum and the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, providing guidance and support to teachers
  • Develop and implement an engaging and rigorous English curriculum
  • Collaborate with fellow academic leaders to enhance cross-curricular initiatives
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and implementing strategies for improvement
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Ensure the effective use of resources and technology within the department
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding students' academic performance
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in the field of English education

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in English or a related field
  • Teaching certification and significant teaching experience
  • Proven experience as a Head of English or in a similar leadership role
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
