Port Operations Manager

CalMac Ferries Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Port Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of our ports and slipways.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage department processes in line with company expectations and ensure consultation with relevant process reviewers.
- Provide a comprehensive, efficient, and safe operation of the Port/s and Slipways.
- Manage customer and business partner relationships and operational service requirements.
- Prepare and agree staff rosters and ensure deployment and supervision of staff to meet service needs within agreed budgets.
- Ensure all costs for which responsible, including staff and service operations, are kept under control and within budget.
- Direct Port operations in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and ensure safe working practices are adopted and maintained.
- Identify opportunities to generate revenue improvement and assist in implementing cost reductions.
- Liaise with vessels to ensure two-way communication about service disruptions and customer requirements.
- Undertake daily inspections of pier buildings and slipways and take action as appropriate to ensure they are fit and safe for purpose.
- Responsible for collection of pier, berthing, and fishing dues from vessels or third parties.
- Participate in work roster patterns to ensure full-service coverage at the Port at all times and respond to emergency call outs when necessary.
- HNC/HND qualification or equivalent essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate experience of implementing change.
- Able to discuss, communicate, negotiate, and resolve problems and prepare clear and concise reports.
- Computer literate with experience of Word and Excel desirable.
- Must be able to commute to the island and commute to Craignure on a daily basis.
- Must hold driver's license as travelling between ports on the island will be required on a regular basis.
- Ability to work with initiative as a self-starter and without supervision, energetic, creative, and capable of managing staff to achieve the best results.
