We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join our research team at the University of Bristol. The successful candidate will work on developing high-resolution gridded population projections until 2100, focusing on the Shared Socio-economic (SSP) scenarios.
About the RoleThe primary purpose of this post is to provide advanced quantitative and geospatial analysis skills to support the development of new population projections. You will work closely with our world-leading Quantitative Spatial Science research group and benefit from our institutional partnership with the Alan Turing Institute.
Key Responsibilities- To develop and implement machine learning and deep learning techniques for high-resolution gridded population projections.
- To produce disaggregated population projections by age and sex, as well as contribute to uncertainty estimates of population disaggregation.
- To lead and contribute to drafting key scholarly publications and co-develop research and applications.
- To disseminate project findings through peer-reviewed journal articles and presentations at key conferences.
To be successful in this role, you will need a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant field, such as data science or quantitative geography. You should have extensive experience working with UNIX, R, and/or Python programming languages, as well as expertise in machine learning and deep learning techniques.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary for this position is £42,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also receive benefits including access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days annual leave, and opportunities for professional development.
