Clinical Leader for Home Treatment Team

We are seeking a highly motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to lead our innovative Home Treatment Team at the Harrow Mental Health Centre. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership qualities and be passionate about delivering high-quality care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership for the team, ensuring best practice is employed and quality targets are met.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of the Home Treatment Team and other parts of the service as required.
  • Participate in and lead quality improvement projects and clinical audits.
  • Exercise senior medical responsibility for the care carried out by the Home Treatment Team.
  • Closely liaise with acute wards to facilitate discharge planning.

The postholder will be expected to work closely with the ward manager to provide overall clinical leadership for the ward multidisciplinary team. This will include direct clinical assessments, consultations, risk assessments, and care plans.

About the Role

The Home Treatment Team is a multidisciplinary and community-based service that aims to provide a safe and effective home-based assessment and treatment service as an alternative to inpatient and Emergency Department care. The team works in conjunction with and is integrated with other local service elements.

The Northwick Park Mental Health Unit has an ECT suite, two adult wards, the Home Treatment Team, the psychiatric liaison service, and the Harrow management team. Consultant and junior doctor offices and are based within the management suite, ensuring that ward staff feel part of the broader Harrow mental health service.

Requirements
  • Primary medical degree.
  • Full Registration with the GMC and inclusion on Specialist Register (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date).
  • British Citizenship or required work permit visa to work full-time in the UK.

Candidates should have completed a minimum of one year's full-time training in an approved psychiatric training scheme and have experience of managing patients with acute, severe, and enduring mental illness in a community setting.

Candidates should also have thorough knowledge of mental health conditions, experience in risk assessment and management in clinical settings, and knowledge of CPA, MCA, MHA, and relevant issues.
