Job Title: Psychiatric Liaison Clinician

The Oxford Health NHS Trust's Psychiatric Liaison Service (PLS) aims to provide a comprehensive liaison psychiatry service for patients in acute psychiatric states, including psychosis, severe depression, dementia, and delirium, at the Acute Hospital Trust. The focus is to ensure that patients' mental health needs are met alongside their physical needs, promoting a holistic approach to care.

Incentive: This role offers an incentive premium of £3,500 (pro-rata) to be paid in instalments over an 18-month period. Please note that this scheme is not available to current employees of Oxford Health and is subject to a claw back clause. Additional information will be provided.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments for individuals in mental health crisis, utilizing evidence-based practices to inform treatment decisions.
  • Provide expert advice, support, and training to staff, enhancing their knowledge and skills in mental health care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care, promoting a culture of collaboration and respect.
  • Work towards PLAN accreditation as part of a dedicated team, driving excellence in mental health care.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide mental health support at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe General Hospital, responding to the needs of patients and staff.
  • Function autonomously at Band 6 level for assessments and treatments, utilizing their expertise to inform care decisions.
  • Facilitate safe discharges and reduce unnecessary hospital admissions, promoting efficient and effective care.

Person Specification:
  • Essential: Current Registration, Crisis assessments experience.
  • Desirable: Registered student mentor, Psychosocial intervention qualification, Post graduate qualifications.
Clinical Skillset:
  • Essential: Risk assessments, Teaching experience, Working with complex patients.
Team working:
  • Essential: Positive attitude towards service users, Liaison working interest/experience.
