We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Young Persons Independent Personal Advisor to join our team in Cardiff City Centre. As a key member of our service, you will play a vital role in supporting women and children who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse.
About the Role:- Provide individually tailored support packages to women and children, empowering them to build on their strengths and achieve their goals.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies to identify children who may benefit from our project.
- Engage with children, young people, and their families, conducting initial assessments and developing detailed support plans.
- Facilitate group programs, 1-2-1 mentoring, and support with children and young people aged 5-16 who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse.
- Support families in identifying and addressing issues related to their children, promoting positive parenting, healthy relationships, and the welfare of children and young people.
- Hold a SafeLives IDVA training certificate or a relevant degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience or a vocational qualification.
- Driving license and access to own vehicle are essential.
- Have an understanding of domestic violence and abuse, including the impact on victims and their children.
- Understand child protection issues and how to effectively safeguard.
- Experience in engaging with external agencies.
- Strong crisis management skills.
- Excellent IT and communication skills.
- Ability to provide practical and emotional support.
- Ability to manage own workload.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
