Job Description

We are looking for an Apprentice Data Engineer to join our Connected business, which connects people through fixed-line and mobile telecoms infrastructure, ensuring seamless communication and access to information.

This role sits within our systems development team, working alongside Project, Finance, PMO, and other departments. As an apprentice, you will have the support of the Development team and experienced Telecoms and IT professionals to develop and adapt knowledge.

Main Responsibilities

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Learn to gather, analyse, and interpret complex data from multiple sources, including Salesforce (Sitetracker), PowerBI, and SQL.
  • Software Implementation: Assist the ULC Developer in implementing new software systems, upgrades, and APIs within timescales and SLAs.
  • Reporting: Develop reports on data efficiencies, helping drive informed decision-making.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ULC and GDPR data management standards, at times working closely with project teams to minimise data discrepancies.
  • Visualisation and Insights: Use data visualisation tools to provide actionable insights.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop skills to recommend and implement improvements to current data processes, tools, and reporting methods to enhance efficiency and data quality.

What to Expect

As an Apprentice with Connected, you'll gain hands-on industry experience and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. You'll work with a buddy from our apprentice population and receive a dedicated mentor who will guide you throughout your apprenticeship programme.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4/A*-C, including English and Maths.
  • A minimum level 3 qualification with technical content such as Computer Science, Maths, or Physics.
  • Some experience with data or programming languages is desirable.
  • The motivation and dedication to successfully complete your apprenticeship programme.

Salary: The estimated salary for this role is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
