About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Forklift Engineer Apprentice. As part of our 4-year apprenticeship program, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

As a forklift engineer apprentice, you will be responsible for fault-finding, maintaining, servicing, and repairing a range of equipment. You will work closely with experienced engineers, learning from them and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role
  • You will complete a 3-year apprenticeship qualification: Level 3 Lift Truck and Powered Access Engineering Technician Apprenticeship standard.
  • You will gain on-the-job experience, starting with shadowing your mentor and other engineers, progressing to performing tasks under supervision, then alongside qualified engineers where your work will be checked and signed off.
  • Work will be carried out on customer premises and at Briggs Equipment Group workshop locations within your specified region.

About You
  • 3 GCSEs at grade 4/C or Scottish National 5 Grade C or above in English, Science & Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Enthusiasm for all aspects of engineering, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic.
  • Able to complete apprenticeship qualification tasks independently, managing and prioritising your own workload, working to deadlines under pressure.
  • Understanding of the principles of good customer service.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
  • Comfortable completing both manual labour and administrative tasks.

Estimated salary: £25,000 (Year 4), increasing annually based on performance.
