Lead Grower

Job Description:

The Kitchen Garden People is a successful CSA growing hyper-local salad and vegetables following organic principles for great taste and zero waste. We are seeking an experienced Lead Grower - Field Scale Operations to join our small team and take on a broad area of responsibility, including crop planning and management of crops and field workers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective crop planning and management strategies to ensure high-quality produce and efficient operations.
• Manage and supervise colleagues and volunteers in field and harvest work, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
• Collaborate with the co-lead grower to develop and implement sustainable farming practices, ensuring compliance with organic standards.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years' experience in commercial organic growing or farming on a similar scale.
• A full UK driving license and knowledge of tractor operation.
• Strong understanding of propagation, planting, and management of vegetable crops, as well as soil health and biodiversity.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team.

Working Conditions:

This is a physically demanding role that requires stamina, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt to changing weather conditions and seasonal demands. The successful candidate will be based at FarmED, a Centre for Regenerative Agriculture in the Cotswolds, and will be required to work variable hours depending on the season.

Salary: £24,500 per annum, plus benefits package including free weekly veg box and opportunities for professional development.
