About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Support Officer to join our team at a thriving secondary school in Canterbury. As a key member of our pastoral team, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and academic success of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students facing emotional, social, or behavioral challenges, helping them to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for students, offering guidance and pastoral care to ensure their overall well-being.
  • Develop and implement personalized pastoral plans to support students' academic and personal progress, working closely with teaching staff and parents.
  • Monitor students' behavior and well-being, providing proactive interventions where necessary to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Liaise with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure effective student support and collaboration.
  • Promote positive behavior management and a culture of respect and empathy within the school community.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a pastoral or support role within an educational setting is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the well-being of young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the wider school community.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures, with training provided if needed.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, social care, or youth work are desirable.
