About the Role: Senior Project Managers
Base Location: Flexible in Scotland, with relocation assistance available for candidates living outside of Scotland.
We offer a competitive salary of £55,200 - £83,000, plus a car or car allowance, performance-related bonus, and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing, and family.
The SSEN Transmission Delivery Team is currently recruiting for experienced Senior Project Managers to join our team and be part of the exciting journey in delivering new High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects throughout Scotland. These projects are being delivered under the Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework for 2030 to directly facilitate Scotland's ambitions to meet Net-Zero.
In order to deliver these projects, we have adopted an innovative delivery strategy via a disaggregated delivery model. This has unlocked opportunities for Senior Project Managers to manage our onshore based civil and building packages. This will involve directly managing our civils supply chain and working alongside the Design and HVDC Converter Equipment package teams throughout the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase and then into the Delivery phase.
The scale of our portfolio of projects is continuing to grow in the coming years, meaning there is opportunities for career progression within the business for candidates.
A key aspect of this role is accountability for the safety, health, and wellbeing of all personnel, as well as environmental aspects of those Transmission project activities being managed, including compliance with our framework behaviour charter and the CDM regulations.
Responsibilities include planning, monitoring, and controlling projects or packages in line with Project Execution Plans to ensure they are executed to cost, schedule, and quality.
This role also involves commercial responsibilities, including contract negotiation, contract awards, and NEC contract management, ensuring that any disputes are escalated as appropriate for resolution with budgetary responsibilities.
To be considered for this role, we'd love you to have:
A proven track record of safely delivering complex and high value packages of work or projects to cost, schedule, and quality in the Transmission, Construction, Energy, or Civil industry. We are also interested in candidates with complex buildings / fit out experience - such as from the nuclear, healthcare, or pharmaceutical sectors.
Experience of people management, safety, project management methodology, and practice to lead a multi-discipline team to success; coupled with an engineering, construction, or project management qualification / degree or equivalent experience.
Experience of governance, reporting, and management requirements for projects and/or programmes of work in a regulated environment, with prior budget responsibilities, ideally £50m+, and confident in managing multiple project execution issues whilst analysing and prioritising key delivery risks and issues for the project on an ongoing basis.
Additionally, experience managing and delivering pre-construction or Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) scope of works, successfully engaging with Contractors in advance of construction to achieve the greatest value for money, programme certainty, and de-risking of project delivery.
About Our Business
We take immense pride in owning and operating the high-voltage electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland, transporting energy from where it is generated to wherever it is needed, ensuring a safe and reliable electricity supply for the communities we serve. But that's not all - we're committed to upgrading the grid to deliver cleaner, homegrown energy for the future.
As an equal opportunity employer, we encourage diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
