Leigh Academy Bexley is seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our core team of professionals. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of our students, working closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

The role of a Learning Support Assistant is varied and requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability. You will work with students on a 1-to-1 basis, in small groups or with general assistance for whole classes, providing support with academic work, personal care, and social skills. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reporting to teachers and other staff members as required.

We are looking for someone who is patient, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. You will be an excellent communicator and team player, with a commitment to providing high-quality support to our students.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide academic support to students, including assistance with homework, projects, and exams
  • Support students with personal care and social skills, including toileting, feeding, and emotional well-being
  • Work with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • Maintain accurate records and report to teachers and other staff members as required
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of the team

Key skills and qualifications:

  • GCSEs or equivalent in English and maths
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to providing high-quality support to students
