Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Children's Therapy Service at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Community Children's Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing specialist therapy advice and support to children and young people with developmental disabilities or medical conditions affecting their occupational performance.

Main Duties

  • Provide client-centered specialist Occupational Therapy advice and input to children and young people using the best available evidence base.
  • Offer advice and support to other professionals, educational staff, parents, and carers involved in addressing occupational performance issues.

Person Specification

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Knowledge of essentials in delivering a quality service

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge and experience of working with children and young people
  • Knowledge of the current national policy and legal context for children with disabilities

Experience

  • General postgraduate occupational therapy experience of delivering therapy within an occupational performance framework
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working

Knowledge

  • Awareness of professional practice issues in the field of children's occupational therapy
  • Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession

Skills

  • Ability to undertake a client-centered and occupations-focused assessment
  • Ability to use standardized assessment tools, report, and interpret results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to reflect on own work and practice
  • Self-motivation and ability to motivate others
