The Executive Director of the Community Resource Center plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's future. This dynamic leader works closely with the board of directors to develop and execute a strategic plan that aligns with the organization's mission of promoting self-sufficiency and stability in the community.

Mission Advancement

Key responsibilities include working with the Board of Directors to advance, enhance, change, or restructure the organization's strategic plan and its mission, vision, values, goals, and objectives.

Communications/Liaison Between Stakeholders
  • The Executive Director serves as the primary spokesperson for the organization, effectively communicating the mission to internal and external stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, clients, donors, community partners, funders, local government, and media.
  • Develops and implements marketing, communications, and public relations strategies to promote the organization's mission and goals.
  • Cultivates relationships with local media, non-profit leaders, business executives, state officials, and other stakeholders to foster opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Financial Sustainability /Resource Development
  • Responsible for fundraising and creating conditions for financial success, including soliciting major gifts from foundations, corporations, and individual donors, as well as identifying new funding opportunities.
  • Works with the External Affairs Committee to identify and support fundraising activities.

Financial Management/Fiscal Oversight

  • Develops the annual budget in collaboration with the Finance Committee and subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Ensures a strong understanding of financial documents, including budgets, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and 990 tax returns.

Governance

  • Builds a strong, transparent working relationship with the Board of Directors, providing accurate and timely information on the organization's programs, services, and finances.
  • Works with the Board Development ad hoc committee to identify skills needed on the Board and develop a plan to attract individuals with those skills.

Compliance

  • Ensures the organization's legal integrity by maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations, as well as internal organizational policies and procedures.
Operations/Administration/People Management – Making It Run

Staffing

  • Recruits, trains, and supervises staff, volunteers, and interns.

Procedures

  • Ensures the effective management of administrative activities, including payroll, facility maintenance, insurance, subscriptions, and supplies.

Facilities

  • Manages the relationship with the landlord.
  • Requires a proven track record as a Non-Profit Executive Director or similar role.
  • Experience in creating conditions for financial success.
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Non-Profit Executive Director.
  • Strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of financials and ability to explain financials to the Board of Directors.
