We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Support Specialist to join our team in the Brynmawr area.

About the Role

As a Community Support Specialist, you will be working with individuals who require support to transition from long-term psychiatric care back to independent living within their local community. Your primary responsibility will be to build relationships with service users, securing tenancy and integrating them back into their community.

  • Salary: £26,385.74 per annum
  • Location: Brynmawr Area
  • Hours: 35 hours per week
  • Contract Type: Permanent
Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • SUPPORTING SERVICE USERS WITH TENANCY AND INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS
  • BUILDING TRUSTING RELATIONSHIPS WITH SERVICE USERS AND THEIR SUPPORT NETWORKS
  • ADMINISTERING MEDICATION (TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED)
  • ENSURING SERVICE USERS HAVE CHOICE AND CONTROL IN THE DELIVERY OF THEIR SUPPORT
  • FRONT-LINE SUPPORT OF SERVICE USERS BASED THROUGHOUT THE GWENT AREA
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards it
  • Training in medication administration will be supplied
  • Ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships with those people who use the service
  • High level of emotional intelligence; non-judgmental, resilient, and empathetic
  • Understanding of PIE, ACEs, and strength-based approaches
  • Experience in representing and advocating the needs of service users
