Job Title: Engineering Manager Materials Technology

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager Materials Technology to lead our Materials Technology Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a highly specialized team of metallurgists, non-metallics, and welding engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of experts in metallurgy, materials science, and welding to ensure technical mentoring standards are met.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including Rolls Royce, departmental managers, and the Ministry of Defence.
  • Oversee the Materials, Corrosion, and Welding authorities, ensuring compliance with Defence Standards.
  • Contribute to the development of Defence Standards and manage the peer review of work leaving the department.
Requirements:
  • Hold a degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Welding.
  • Experience in research and development projects and/or project management.
  • Good understanding of UKAS laboratory environments.
  • Chartership or evidence of working towards.

The Materials Technology Centre is a group of highly specialized teams that employ qualified and experienced metallurgists, welding engineers, and non-metallic material specialists. We combine theoretical and practical application of materials science to set material strategy and policy across a wide range of materials and production processes.
