A stimulating opportunity awaits at National Grid plc as an Electrician, working on our prestigious Advanced Apprenticeship Substations programme. Over a three-year period, you will develop exceptional skills and expertise, becoming a craftsperson in our substations.

This unique position offers you the chance to gain experience in maintenance techniques for power transformers, main connections, terminals, and joints while working alongside experienced professionals. The training is delivered through a combination of courses run at our Global Technical Training Centre of Excellence and hands-on training on real transmission equipment in a live substation environment.

You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and monitoring of high-voltage substation equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, disconnectors, compressors, and auxiliary systems. Your accomplishments will significantly contribute to the smooth operation of our substations and the overall electricity transmission network.

As a flexible multitasker, you will be able to handle multiple responsibilities with great attention to detail. We are looking for individuals who can pay close attention to detail and take initiative to ensure high-quality results.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £23,148 per annum, commensurate with their level of experience. Other benefits include 26 days annual leave plus statutory holidays, our double-matched pension contribution scheme, and the option to buy discounted National Grid shares.
