Job Description

Specialist Pension Consultant

This role is designed to support our clients in complex pension matters, with a primary focus on safeguarded pension transfers. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to provide expert advice and services, including at-retirement advice, high earner pension tax planning, and other complex areas of pension planning.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in growing our business by acting as a Pension Transfer Specialist for safeguarded pension transfers.
  2. Work alongside our part-time resource to provide proactive input and sign-off for complex pensions.
  3. Provide expert advice and services for at-retirement services and high earner pension tax planning, including large-scale project work.
  4. Collaborate with our management team to maintain high standards of compliance and risk control.
  5. Support our business on projects that require protecting clients and our reputation.
  6. Interrogate scheme specifications to ensure we have all necessary information for scheme templates within the FinCalc TVAS system.
  7. Set up scheme templates and run test calculations to ensure projections align with scheme data.
  8. Interrogate data for members seeking advice to ensure we receive all necessary information for accurate TVAS production.
Requirements

Experience and Competencies

  1. CII G60 or AF3 examinations are essential, with a commitment to studying for the new CII pension transfer exam AF7.
  2. Good IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  3. Project management experience, including use of MS Project, Excel, and Smart Office.
  4. Ability to think objectively and make important decisions that positively impact client financial decisions.
  5. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  6. Strong organisational and management skills.
  7. Organised and thorough, with great attention to detail.
  8. Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  9. Commercial awareness and sound judgement.
  10. At least 10 years of experience in pensions.
  11. Past experience in dealing with Defined Benefit transfers, high earner pension issues, and Pension Freedoms.
