We are Rolls-Royce SMR, a pioneering organization revolutionizing the industry with cutting-edge technology. We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation Control Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of an industry-leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of nuclear power station.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise across the lifecycle of C&I Systems for the SMR nuclear power plant, covering system architecture, sub-system design, and equipment specification and design/selection.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to apply a structured systems engineering approach to design.
  • Translate high-level requirements into a specification for Control and Instrumentation (C&I) systems, collaborating with Process Engineers.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components and systems, facilitating effective system design.
  • Assess and substantiate that the design specification meets the requirements, ensuring compliance against international standards (IEC 61513, IEC 61226, and IEC 61508).
  • Produce Validation Plans and define test plans to demonstrate that the C&I system requirements have been satisfied.
  • Support the planning and implementation of policies and procedures related to the life cycle of C&I systems.
  • Ensure that optimum solutions are provided for the RR SMR Nuclear Power Plant by supporting procurement, operations, and maintenance aspects of the equipment.
  • Contribute to the production of safety cases and provide support in liaising with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors.
Requirements:
  • Hold a degree-level qualification in one or more of the engineering disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, mechatronics, physics, or computer science.
  • Applicants without a degree who can demonstrate suitable experience may also be considered.
What We Offer:
  • Salary: £48,600 - £62,500 (DOE)
  • Bonus: Performance-related bonus of up to 12.5%
