An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Rheumatology department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking to appoint a Locum Consultant to join our busy team of consultants, junior doctors, and specialist nurses. Clinics are delivered either face-to-face or through telephone consultation with a focus on serious forms of rheumatic diseases as well as patients referred to the service on routine pathways.

Rheumatology does not have direct in-patient responsibility; however, we expect active engagement with medical colleagues when there are rheumatology issues.

  • Able to develop effective presentational skills and write reports that meet high standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide a comprehensive rheumatology service to the trust, ensuring the highest standards of care.
  • Work with colleagues in planning service delivery, including forward-looking and innovative practices.
  • Contribute to the trust's corporate objectives, undertaking mandatory training as required.
  • Respond to complaints according to trust protocols and within the designated timeframe.

  • Able to work within the trust and NHS performance framework and targets.
  • Experience in audit, knowledge of complaints, ethical issues, and Clinical Governance.
  • Understanding of training systems and active participation in training structures/trainee supervision.
  • Experience in teaching medical students.
  • Evidence of understanding clinical research processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, including CME.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
