Job Title: Research Assistant in Plant Biology

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our team at the Sainsbury Laboratory, University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will support our research group in investigating plant organs of diverse forms and functions in the context of plant microbe-interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the research group in generating, maintaining, and organizing plant lines and colonizing organisms for colonization assays.
  • Conduct day-to-day horticultural work, including potting, watering, and harvesting plants, as well as sterile tissue culture work.
  • Perform basic skills in molecular biology techniques, such as genotyping PCR, cloning, and bacterial and plant transformation techniques.
  • Assist in establishing new methodologies and performing experiments independently to generate research outputs for publications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Plant Biology or a related field. A Master's degree would be desirable.
  • Excellent team player with high solution-orientation and self-motivation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and with others, with a high degree of accuracy including outstanding record keeping.
  • Excellent time-keeping, time management, and priority setting skills.
