About the Role

The Actuary Group is seeking a highly skilled Longevity and Reinsurance Actuary to join our team on behalf of our client, a leading UK provider of insurance and savings solutions with over 100 years of experience.

They leverage their specialist knowledge and trusted financial expertise to deliver smart outcomes. With a proven track record and expertise, they have the confidence to make informed decisions, challenge conventional wisdom, and innovate to make a positive impact.

We are looking for a fully qualified actuary with extensive experience in longevity and a strong understanding of UK Defined Benefit Pensions and reinsurance structures. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, in-depth knowledge of capital modeling and profit testing, as well as considerable experience in mortality analysis and assumption setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead projects related to longevity, assumption setting, longevity risk, and capital models
  • Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Take charge of various areas of thought leadership - longevity, annuities, etc.
  • Conduct longevity research
  • Participate in reinsurance pricing activities, including discussions with reinsurers and negotiation of reinsurance terms
  • Collaborate with the Origination team and pension schemes to design and administer capital-efficient solutions that effectively manage risk
  • Oversee the operation of reinsurance treaties, including collateral arrangements where necessary
  • Manage and mentor junior members of the team
  • Oversee some of the technical aspects of models and experience analysis - development, implementation, calibration, testing
  • Contribute to the risk management function from a BPA perspective
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as required
  • Comply with relevant industry regulations and notify the regulator(s) of matters reasonably expected to be notified
Core Competencies
  • Understanding of capital modeling and profit testing
  • Experience in mortality analysis and assumption setting
  • Strong knowledge of UK Defined Benefit Pensions and reinsurance structures
  • Strong communication skills (able to communicate technical issues to senior people, including non-actuaries)
Experience and Qualifications
  • Qualified Actuary
  • Experience working within the Actuarial Function of a UK Life assurer
  • Experience managing stakeholders at all levels
