As an On-Call Firefighter with the Shared Services Partnership, you will play a vital role in responding to emergency situations and engaging with your community. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others while developing your skills and experience.

The Role

On-Call Firefighters are trained and experienced professionals who are 'on call' to respond to a range of emergencies. They have everyday lives and jobs, but when their pager sounds, they become professional firefighters. The work may be called 'part-time', but On-Call Firefighters are trained and experienced people on the front line, saving lives and protecting people and community assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency situations, including fires, flooding, and road accidents
  • Engage with the community through fire safety initiatives and other activities
  • Work closely with other members of the team to form close working relationships
  • Attend community events and participate in fire safety initiatives
  • Retrieve animals from awkward situations
Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must be able to reach the fire station quickly and safely after being alerted to an incident. This can be physically demanding, so physical fitness is of utmost importance. You must also be able to meet the essential requirements of the role, including being able to work and/or live within 4 minutes of the fire station.
