As a Dementia Support Specialist, you will work closely with families, caregivers, and clinical staff to provide expert support and guidance on managing dementia-related behaviours.

Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize information through observation and written documentation to provide recommendations informed by evidence-based best practice.
  • Develop reports that are contextualized to individual situations and people, aimed at improving quality of life for those living with dementia.
  • Undertake assessments that help understand the holistic experience of individuals and their care networks.
  • Work in partnership with the broader healthcare sector to build capability and improve outcomes.
  • Contribute to research, projects, and programs that meet the changing needs of the sector.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
  • Relevant qualifications in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health.
  • Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel.
