Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced pharmacist to join our Medicines Information team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Senior Pharmacist Medicines Information/Clinical Services, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical enquiry answering services to healthcare professionals and patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide evaluated medicines information and advice to pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff, allied healthcare professionals, and members of the public.
  • Assist in the production of proactive medicines information to improve prescribing and practice.
  • Support the training and development of junior medicines information staff.
  • Contribute to a peer review system and assist with the audit of enquiries.
  • Maintain contact with specialists and groups nationally and locally to ensure best practice is identified and incorporated into NUH practice.
Core Clinical Duties
  • Ensure safe, rational, and effective prescribing by undertaking medication reconciliation, assessing suitability of prescribed medication, and counselling patients.
  • Provide medicines for individual patients during their stay in hospital, at discharge, and for out-patient visits.
  • Interpret and request clinical tests to monitor and make recommendations to improve effectiveness of drug therapy.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe use of medicines.
Person Specification
  • Diploma/MSc in clinical pharmacy or other appropriate qualification.
  • Wide previous experience in hospital pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of medicines information resources and systems.
  • Good interpersonal, negotiating, and presentation skills.
  • Critical evaluation of literature and literature searching skills.
  • Organised and able to prioritise own work and assist others.
