Job Summary

The Park Operations Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of Thorndon Country Park. This includes maintaining the park's facilities, engaging with visitors, and supporting the park's rangers in various duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the daily operation of the park by ensuring all car park vehicle access points are open and securely closed.
  • Keep toilet facilities clean and in good working order, reporting any repairs needed.
  • Engage with customers to improve the visitor experience, dealing with any issues that may arise.
  • Operate basic machinery and drive park vehicles.
  • Undertake grounds maintenance duties, including using a strimmer, ride-on mower, and other ground care equipment.
  • Ensure all facilities, including toilets, buildings, and storage areas, are secure and available as needed.
  • Support general operational activities as required.
  • Maintain the safety and beauty of the park by picking up litter and emptying bins and dog bins as needed.
  • Complete relevant Health and Safety checks on play areas and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Check on livestock and assist rangers with various park duties.

Requirements

  • Education to RQF Level 2 (GCSE or BTech) or equivalent by experience.
  • Experience of working with members of the public or customers, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to deliver information and advice.
  • Experience of working within a team and supporting team members to deliver local objectives.
