We are currently looking for a Special Needs Support Assistant to join our team at an Ofsted Good rated school in Barking & Dagenham.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will provide tailored support on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to students with a variety of special educational needs, including speech and language challenges. They will work closely with the class teacher to deliver core subject lessons, implement effective behaviour management strategies, and collaborate with professionals to enhance students' learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualised support to students with SEN, focusing on speech and language development
  • Support the class teacher in delivering core subjects and implementing behaviour management strategies
  • Collaborate with other professionals to enhance students' learning outcomes
  • Engage students both inside and outside the classroom to promote their progress and well-being
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

  • A 1:1 or 2:1 degree in Linguistics from a reputable UK university
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Confidence in managing behavioural needs and supporting students with SEND
  • Experience in speech and language support (preferable)
