The Software Release Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth deployment of software and updates into production. This involves planning, coordinating, and managing releases across multiple projects, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and seamless delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Release Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement release plans that outline scope, schedule, resources, and activities required for successful deployment.
    • Coordinate with software development, quality assurance, IT operations, and product management teams to define release requirements and timelines.
  • Release Management:
    • Oversee the execution of release activities, including deployment, testing, and rollback planning.
    • Ensure that all releases meet quality standards before deployment to production.
  • Post-Release Support:
    • Validate post-release stability and ensure that business expectations are met.
    • Coordinate with support teams to resolve any issues that arise after release.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Implement and maintain release management best practices, processes, and tools to optimize the release cycle.
    • Review and improve release processes based on feedback and post-release reviews.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of release management processes and activities.
    • Provide regular reports on release status, metrics, and any issues or risks identified.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in release management or a similar role within software development.
    • Experience with SaaS products.
    • Proven experience in managing complex releases across multiple teams and environments.
    • Experience with release management tools and platforms (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Jira, etc.).
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
    • Familiarity with automation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Certifications:
    • ITIL Certification, PMP, or other relevant certifications.
