Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Capability Manager to join our team at National Nuclear Laboratory. The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering and management, with experience in leading teams and managing budgets. They will be able to provide guidance, coaching, and direction to team members with a range of experience in an engineering workplace, and identify opportunities for operational improvements, staff development, and recruitment.

The Senior Capability Manager will play a crucial role in the success of the team, nurturing and supporting the team in a way that's helpful, positive, and motivating, ensuring the mental health and wellbeing of the team. They will be accountable for all resources within their team, including staff, facilities, and equipment, and will be responsible for delivering projects, programs, and technical work to a high standard.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of nuclear safety and security culture, and will be able to work effectively in a highly regulated environment. They will also have excellent communication and leadership skills, and be able to build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of experts to deliver high-quality projects and services to customers

Requirements

  • Directly relevant science degree or an equivalent level of relevant experience
  • Line management experience
  • Working to high quality standards in a highly regulated environment
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance
  • Strong understanding of nuclear safety and security culture
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
