Role Summary

We are seeking a Child Guidance Counselor to provide guidance and support to students in a secondary school setting.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Gather and utilize information about students from various sources, including school files, pupil tracking information, teachers, and external agencies.
  2. Work closely with the PCC to carry out additional student assessments for those returning to school after long absence, exclusion, dual registration at the Pupil Referral Unit, or transfer from other provisions.
  3. Complete all relevant paperwork and data entry efficiently.
  4. Mentor students in the Pathway Centre on an ad hoc basis, developing positive relationships with individuals identified and operating as a bridge between school and other provisions.
  5. Plan and run group work, including 'Settling In', 'Anger Management', 'Social Skills', and 'Improving Attendance'.
  6. Monitor interventions and outcomes for each young person using Cluster and school systems.
  7. Liaise closely with professionals like school nurses, Year Curriculum Coordinators, Senior Team, social services, health services, Education Welfare, Connexions, Police Liaison Officer, etc.
  8. Develop positive links with other professionals and voluntary groups working with young people.
  9. Attend whole school meetings, including Morning Briefing, Whole School assemblies, Staff Meetings, etc.
