Contract Duration: Temporary until 10/08/

Please note that the annual salary advertised is for a full-time role, based on 35.00/37.00 hours per week. If the position you are applying for is part-time or you are only going to be working part of the year, i.e., a term-time contract for 38 or 39 weeks per year, the annual salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis including a number of additional weeks for annual leave entitlement when the position is term-time.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work closely and co-operatively with teaching staff to support the needs of pupils identified as having complex additional support needs in the support centre. Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with communication needs
  • Assisting with written tasks and activities
  • Providing hydrotherapy and swimming support
  • Meeting sensory needs and providing a safe environment
  • Supporting pupils with motor difficulties and physical development
  • Using IT to support learning and development
  • Assisting with cleaning and maintenance of resources and equipment
  • Completing tasks and activities as requested by the Principal Teacher and/or Support Centre Teacher
  • Supporting pupils with mobility and inclusion needs
  • Assisting with self-care and personal hygiene
  • Supporting pupils with toileting and continence needs
  • Providing social skills support and activities
  • Preparing resources and materials as required
  • Supervising pupils during intervals and lunchtimes
  • Assisting with feeding and medication (after training)
  • Contributing to staff and team meetings

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate will require:

  • National 5 English and National 4 in Maths or equivalent qualification
  • Any other relevant qualifications in addition to the above
  • A current driving licence and use of a vehicle (essential requirement)
