Social Work Specialist

About the Role
Fife Council is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join its Justice Social Work Groupwork Services Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating groupwork programmes, including the MF:MC/MF2C and Caledonian Programmes, as well as writing reports for Scottish Courts Service, MAPPA, and MARAC.
As a member of the team, you will work closely with Police Scotland and Social Work colleagues to undertake risk assessments and associated liaison tasks.
A key aspect of this role is the ability to assess the suitability of potential participants for groupwork programmes and to provide constructive feedback on practice.
You must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, and be willing to receive training in relevant risk assessment tools if required.
The ideal candidate will have experience of Justice Social Work, groupwork programmes, and risk assessment tools, although training will be provided to support your development.
Salary and Benefits
The estimated salary for this role is between £28,000 and £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
In addition to a competitive salary, Fife Council offers a range of benefits, including SSSC registration fees paid by the Scottish Government.
Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating groupwork programmes for men convicted of sexual offences and domestic abuse
- Writing reports for Scottish Courts Service, MAPPA, and MARAC
- Undertaking risk assessments and associated liaison tasks with Police Scotland and Social Work colleagues
- Assessing the suitability of potential participants for groupwork programmes
- Providing constructive feedback on practice
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A degree in Social Work or a related field
- Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
- Experience of Justice Social Work, groupwork programmes, and risk assessment tools (although training will be provided)
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- A willingness to receive training in relevant risk assessment tools if required
Working Arrangements
This role will require you to work Monday to Friday, with one late night per week depending on the groups running.
You will be based in the Town House, Kirkcaldy.
Please note that prior to appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
