MRC Investigator Scientist in Bioinformatics

We are seeking a highly skilled research scientist to join our team at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) in the Computational Cardiac Imaging Group. The successful candidate will work on a new collaboration with Calico Labs to investigate the mechanisms of human aging and its impact on cardiovascular disease.
The LMS is a world-class research laboratory where scientists and clinicians collaborate to advance the understanding of biology and its application to medicine. Our team uses a flexible and interdisciplinary approach to research, moving between individuals, populations, and model organisms.
The successful candidate will have substantial research experience in machine learning, statistics, and bioinformatics, and will develop models for biological age prediction from multiple image-derived phenotypes. Expert knowledge of statistical tools, including gradient boosting algorithms and causal inference techniques, is required.
We are looking for a candidate with proven programming experience in Python and R, and previous work on biomedical datasets and genomics would be an advantage. The ability to innovate and adapt techniques from other domains is also essential.
