Research Scientist in Proteomics and Bioinformatics

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the University of Bristol. The successful candidate will work closely with Professor David Murphy, Dr. Michael Greenwood, and Dr. Danijela Tatović on an MRC-funded project entitled "Dynamic integration of ingestive behaviours and homeostasis by hypothalamo-neurohypophysial system glucagon like peptide 1 receptors".
The project aims to investigate the role of glucagon-like peptide 1 receptors in the hypothalamo-neurohypophysial system and their impact on hormone release during feeding. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the development of the project.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct animal husbandry and surgery
- Apply proteomic technologies and associated bioinformatics
- Perform general molecular and cell biology techniques, including cell culture, viral vector construction, Western blotting, and RT-PCR
- Use fluorescence microscopy
- Plan, execute, and troubleshoot experiments
- PhD in molecular genetics and/or physiology
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
- Interest and/or experience in physiological genomics, cell signaling, and general molecular biology
- Experience with high-level bioinformatics
- Enthusiasm for a project interfacing wet-lab and computational approaches
- Home Office Personal licence
- Ability to supervise junior scientists
