About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Consultant to join our team at LB Richmond upon Thames & LB Wandsworth. As a key member of our Public Health team, you will play a critical role in protecting the health and wellbeing of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on Health Protection, including infection prevention and control, national immunisation and screening programmes, inclusion health, air quality, climate change, and sustainability.
  • Provide public health lead on all health protection work, including developing and implementing strategies to protect residents from health hazards.
  • Work closely with the Director of Public Health and other council directorates to ensure effective collaboration and coordination.
  • Line manage a team of staff and provide support and guidance to ensure they have the necessary skills and resources to perform their duties.
Requirements
  • Strong skills and experience in leading on complex Public Health issues, including health protection and infection prevention and control.
  • Ability to work flexibly and autonomously, with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Politically astute and able to work with elected members to maximise their positive impact on health and wellbeing.
  • Ability to influence and effect change, with a strong understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion.
