Frontend Developer Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented Frontend Developer to join our team at News UK. As a Frontend Developer, you will be responsible for creating visually appealing, responsive, and accessible user interfaces that set the standard for usability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop website front-end presentation layer using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Maintain and evaluate changes to existing websites
  • Liaise with teams and individuals to develop and refine high-level design concepts
  • Adhere to in-house standards on development practices, including source control, coding style guides, and processes
  • Perform other duties as directed

Requirements:

We are looking for a seasoned Frontend Developer who is organised, a team player with demonstrable knowledge of web-based development and accessibility guidelines and practices.

  • Comprehensive understanding of HTML semantics, accessibility best practices, and cross-browser compatibility
  • Excellent CSS skills, including preprocessors like SCSS/Sass and responsive design principles
  • Comprehensive understanding of core JavaScript concepts, including DOM manipulation, event handling, and ES6+ features
  • Understanding of WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and experience in implementing accessibility features
  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles, animation, and interaction techniques
  • Experience with GIT/Version control systems and excellent communication and team-working skills
