Job Requirements

We are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Care New England Health System. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited School and a valid RI Pharmacist license. Preferred qualifications include a Clinical Specialist or IV Specialist certification, BLS/ACLS/PALS certification, and Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the preparation and storage of sterile preparations for inpatients and outpatients in the Outpatient Infusion Unit, ensuring compounded sterile preparations are prepared accurately and safely in accordance with USP 797 requirements, professional standards of practice, and laws, rules and regulations.
  • Manages the preparation, storage, and handling of hazardous materials, including spills, optimizes chemotherapy regimens by reviewing the regimen for indication, dose, route, preparation, and adjuvant medications.
  • Monitors concomitant medications for drug interactions with the chemotherapy regimen, monitors laboratory values as needed to evaluate for toxicity, and oversees accurate and safe preparation of chemotherapy.
  • Provides optimization of parenteral nutrition in conjunction with nutrition services, daily review of parenteral nutrition orders for appropriateness and safety, and makes recommendations to prescribers in order to optimize therapy.
