About the Adult Social Care Lawyer Role

The London Borough of Lewisham is seeking a qualified Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their dynamic and friendly Legal Team. As an Adult Social Care Lawyer, you will play a vital role in advising Social Services clients on all aspects of relevant legislation, handling a demanding and busy caseload of predominantly Adult Social Care matters, and preparing all legal documentation relevant to the caseload.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Senior Social Care Lawyer
  • Handle a demanding and busy caseload of predominantly Adult Social Care matters, including court and advice work
  • Advising Social Services clients in person and in writing, on all aspects of relevant legislation
  • Prepare all legal documentation relevant to the caseload, including a wide variety of court documents, and advise on social care law, assisting the Senior Social Care Lawyers and Principal Lawyer in relation to the most complex or specialised matters as required
  • Attend all meetings with clients and external parties, professionals' meetings and panels as required, and advise on all aspects of social services work
  • Carry out legal research

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in Adult Social Care Law, preferably from a local authority setting, but they are open to applicants from private practice who want to transfer their skills. The role can be worked on a hybrid working basis, and the desired candidate will be expected to attend the office in Catford twice a week.
